Nursery Rhyme:
There was a Maid

A classic nursery rhyme wording to There was a Maid:

There was a maid on Scrabble Hill,
And, if not dead, she lives there still.
She grew so tall, she reached the sky,
And on the moon hung clothes to dry.

There was a Maid

Thoughts on the There was a Maid Nursery Rhyme

Mother Goose nursery rhymes are as entertaining today as they were many years ago and one such poem, “There was a Maid,” is a great example of such a rhyme. This poem was written with rhyming stanzas that are often easy for young children to memorize and most often becomes popular over time.

Nursery rhyme scrambles are an ideal addition to most Baby Showers. More often than not, these fun paper and pencil games list a variety of nursery rhymes that have been scrambled and the winner is often the person that unscrambles the most words correctly within a certain period of time wins the game. Nursery rhymes that are perfect for this game include, “There was a Maid,” “There was an Old Woman Tossed Up in a Blanket,” and “There was an Old Crow.” These rhymes are all similarly titled therefore they will create a little more thought and add a lot more to the party game.

Many people will find a great take on the traditional Nursery Rhyme Word Scramble by using various lines of poems to come up with titles. For instance, “There was a maid on Scrabble Hill,” which is a line from, “There was a Maid,” can be used to find the name of this poem. The words to the line of the poem should be mixed up and not in order making it even more difficult to come up with the correct title of the poem. Most people will find that the addition of some type of nursery rhyme game will be a great addition to a fun filled and exciting Baby Shower.

We have over 100 nursery rhymes to create a perfect baby shower.  From the classics we all remember to the simple ones we forgot.  Create your own Nursery Rhyme trivia games that both kids and adults will enjoy!  Try using the Printable Nursery Rhyme games for your baby shower.
